Fusilier Cottage: paint the town red!

There is something special about winter on the island. The little southern city comes alive with festivals: Dark MOFO - art installations, inverted crosses, the burning of the ogoh-ogoh, the winter solstice nude swim - and the Feast. Each year we paint the town red, with red floodlighting on historic buildings. Fusilier Cottage is no exception.

The Festival of Voices follows. Music is in the winter air with pop-up concerts, a free ‘big sing’ at the wharf and songs of rebellion at the female factory, a prison for convict women in South Hobart.
